So its been a few weeks since the last post on here and there are a few developments that are currently taking place across the site. We are currently working on a new framework that will allow the site to be scalable in the future, making it easier to build new applications. The site will go through a small re-jig making existing features easier and more intuitive to use whilst brushing up on the complete user experience. There is no official launch date planned for phase 3 as yet but there will be regular posts here explaining the latest developments.

Login, click ‘map updates’ in the nav menu and make an update where you are in the world! It couldn’t be simpler, and a great way to get more exposure.
If your a member of the site you will have received an email telling you about the new map updates that have just been released, you can add your update to the map and get it sent to Twitter. If you want to add your tweets on the map signup here and join in.

The image above is a screen shot from the latest developments from the dotdashcreate updates map, which allows users to display their updates in a more visual way, plus if you blog about global stories this is a great tool get your blog on the map!
Every update made through the map has a link to the users profile. Your updates will also be sent to twitter if you have configured this through your profile panel.

A new feature thats currently in development is a full screen Google updates map that shows the latest user updates on a dynamic map. you will be able to add an update at a specific location or update your status using the standard user control panel. There will be more information on this feature soon.

Its been a busy last few weeks sorting out a new structure for the profiles, and finally last Saturday the new profiles went live. At first there is no noticeable difference however a careful eye will notice a small icon next to your blog on the right which, when clicked displays your latest blog post (if you’ve added your RSS feed of course!) Your location is also displayed on your profile now - this is for the next phase of developments……
A problem which some of you may have encountered is that in the past when you visited a users profile you had to wait for the contents of every tab to load before viewing the profile, this also made unnecessary requests to the server if the user didn’t want to view all the profile info, so new AJAX tabs have been added that gets the information from the specific tab on request, this reduces the time in which you have to wait for the profile to load and makes everyone happier! 
if anyone has any problems using the tabs just submit a site bug report.

You can now add your favourite videos on Vimeo.com to your profile, simply login and select ‘Add Video’ in the right hand menu. You can then paste the embed code from Vimeo on you videos page, and your video will appear on your profile. At the moment the features are basic and only support Vimeo.com but we will be looking to expand this to other social media sites in the future.

Over the last few weeks there have been many new features and behind the scens improvements to the architecture of dotdashcreate, some of which include security updates to your profiles, adding a twitter feed to your profile, and the ‘My Status’ section which shows you how much promotion you are getting throughout the site based on your profile activity.
There will be a new search facility launching soon enabling you to find exactly what you want on the site. Either explore new blogs, browse peoples profiles, search users updates, or the discussion boards.
